Come join your friends as CU Aware celebrates International Credit Union Day in style on Thursday, October 20th!

The celebration kicks off at 6:00 pm with drinks, snacks, networking and fun. At 6:30 pm, three terrific guests will share their perspective on credit unions and take your questions in a dynamite panel discussion!

The panel features Maurice Smith, President/CEO of Local Government FCU. Maurice, a veteran credit union leader, was recently named a CU Hero by his nationwide peers. In addition to his role at the credit union, Maurice serves as the Chairman of the NC Credit Union League, as well as the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.

Gracing the panel with Maurice are Lois Kitsch and Larry Blanchard. Lois is the National Program Director for the National Credit Union Foundation’s Real Solutions program. Real Solutions works through state credit union leagues to help credit unions offer services that have proven successful for people of modest means and “low wealth.” Lois also heads up the Credit Union Development Education program for NCUF. If you work in credit unions today, you most likely owe Larry Blanchard a sincere thank you. Larry coordinated the grassroots efforts to ensure the passage of HR 1151, the Credit Union Membership Access Act. A “credit union lifer,” Larry has worked for many leading credit union organizations over a storied career. In 2010, Larry was inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame.
